The purpose of this project is to research the energy management plan and suggest the alternative solution to saving the energy and cut the expenses on electricity bill.

Work Completed from Oct 28 to Nov 15, 2013:

During this period, I finished the chapter three of the proposal report which is methodology. Methodology is the ways to produce a project. I use a data collection and study (research) to find the stuff. I should study about DSM and find the valid data through Suruhanjaya Tenaga and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

Work to be Completed by Nov 18, 2013:

Next, I need to finish the slide show  my presentation and finished the report from chapter one to three. This will be completed by Nov 22, 2013. I will then write the conclusion and management implications for the final paper. The entire project should be completed by the third week of Nov 2013.

Problems Encountered:

During this week I have to stay up till late night to find the data. Sometimes, the wifi connection is lose and it is make the process stuck. 

Conclusion:

Introduction:

The purpose of this project is to research the energy management plan and suggest the alternative solution to saving the energy and cut the expenses on electricity bill.

Work Completed from Oct 7 to Oct 25, 2013:

During this period, I finished the literature review. In this section, I have to search the previous work of energy management result. There are few companies voluntarily adopted an energy plan have achieve major energy intensity improvement. Some examples include:

• United Technologies Corp. (UTC) reduced global GHG emission by 46% per dollar of revenue from 2001 to 2006, and is now seeking an additional 12% reduction from 2006 to 2010.
•  Dow Chemical achieved a 22% improvement (saving US$4 billion) between 1995 and 2005, and is now seeking another 25% from 2005 to 2015.
• Toyota’s North American Energy Management Organization has reduced energy use per unit by 23% since 2002; company-wide energy efficiency improvements have saved US$9.2 million in North America since 1999.

Work to be Completed by Oct 28, 2013:

Next, I need to finish the third chapter of my project which includes methodology and making corrections for second chapter. This will be completed by Nov 15, 2013. I will then write the conclusion and management implications for the final paper. The entire project should be completed by the third week of Nov 2013.

Problems Encountered:

During this week I have to search the true fact regarding to the energy management results. Actually, there's a lot of energy management results has been conducted. I have to choose it wisely.

Sept 23 - Oct 3, 2013

Introduction:

The purpose of this project is to research the energy management plan and suggest the alternative solution to saving the energy and cut the expenses on electricity bill.

Work Completed from Sept 23 to Oct 3, 2013:

During this period, I finished the scope and limitation for first chapter. In this section, I have to find the electricity bill for BMI. I need to know the price for a month that BMI should pay. And I also need to know the total usage of electricity (in kW) per month. By referring to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), commercial building rate is more expensive than domestic. I meet Mr. Zabaniah and he explain about the electricity bill and share some knowledge. He said, during on peak hours (student start semester) the electricity bill amount will increasing instead of off peak hours (student semester break) the electricity bill amount will decreasing (small amount).

Work to be Completed by Oct 7, 2013:

Next, I need to finish the second chapter of my project which includes literature review and making corrections for first section. This will be completed by Oct 25, 2013. I will then write the conclusion and management implications for the final paper. The entire project should be completed by the third week of Nov 2013.

Problems Encountered:

During this week I have to work hard to meet Mr. Zabaniah to get the electricity bill. Finally I get the bill but unfortunately, I only get bill for August which is during semester break. I have to deal with him again to get the bill from Jan to June 2013 for comparison purpose. 

Conclusion:

Sept 9 - Sept 20, 2013

Subject: Progress Report (from Sept 9 - Sept 20, 2013): Practice of DSM (Demand Side Management) for Commercial Building (Female Hostel UniKL BMI)

Introduction:

The purpose of this project is to research the energy management plan and suggest the alternative solution to saving the energy and cut the expenses on electricity bill.

Work Completed from Sept 9 to Sept 20 2013:

During this period, I finished the first section of the report, which discusses the objectives of  the project, background and also problem statement. The section on objectives is about the ways to save the energy and make a recommendation to BMI to cut the expenses on electricity bills. On problem statement section, fluorescent tube lamp be the issues. This because fluorescent requires 36Watt per bulb (4 ft.) but LED lamp tube requires 18Watt with the same lumen rate.This is causes the high electricity usage. In addition, the lighting for Female Hostel (corridor and toilet) is working within 24 hours.

Work to be Completed by Sept 23, 2013:

Next, I need to finish the section on scope and limitation and making corrections for first section. This will be completed by October 3, 2013. A section on the meaning/function of DSM for energy saving plan will also need to be completed, but it will only be a few paragraphs due to the lack of information available. I will then write the conclusion and management implications for the final paper. The entire project should be completed by the third week of Nov 2013.

Problems Encountered:

During the research of the wattage of fluorescent requirement, I have problems to confirm the value of watt that the lamp require. There a few value but it is not really accurate. I have to travel to electrical shop to find the real fluorescent and record the wattage. However the project is still on schedule and will proceed as how the project was planned.

Conclusion:
